King Kong has an axe to grind
The first trailer for Godzilla vs Kong is here, and the battle can’t be more ferocious. According to the plot hinted at in this trailer, there was a war between monsters – Kongs and Godzillas, perhaps? — that resulted in their races being nearly extinguished. Now, the last two survivors must battle it out for supremacy. Godzilla is agitated and taking it out on the giant ape himself. Could the events of King of the Monsters have led to these two finally meeting? Could the Ghidorah remains, which terrorist forces may be using to build their own weapon (a mechagodzilla?), be a part of the plot?
Also, King Kong has a giant, glowing axe, so there’s that.
The film is currently scheduled for a simultaneous release on HBO Max and theaters on March 26, 2021 — barring any more COVID-related delays.
