Potential new-ish console will output scaled 4K visuals
Nintendo has long been, ahem, “late to the game” (sorry not sorry for that one) when it comes to visual fidelity, only getting into HD visuals almost a decade after HD sets were mainstream and when 4K was already in the works. Now, they may be angling towards trying to keep pace with modern tech. Though we’ve been covering the rumors about an upgraded Switch, the reports from have been rampant as of late.
The latest is a report out of Bloomberg which seems to coincide with previous tidbits, notably that the updated Switch will include Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) to help it upscale and output its visuals to 4K. Mind you, this would just be for outputting from the Switch’s dock, which we’ve also heard is more powerful than the original, and not to be used while in handheld mode. The portability may jack up the screen to 7 inches diagonally, but its screen resolution will mostly stay the same. The console is supposedly set to launch this year, with a cost of anywhere from $299-$399, depending on who you ask.
