It’s a mess. Again.
We’re finally getting some updates on all of the expected game THINGS coming this Summer, (and our own list is poppin). The latest to pose some information are likely three of the biggest of them all.
E3 2021 will be all-digital, that much we basically knew, but the scope of that was unclear. It’s still unclear, in fact, but we’re now hearing (from the ESA itself) that the show will be “free to attend,” whatever that means. Apparently some bullet points from a recent VGC article based on a leaked pitch are true, but the show is currently in flux and details haven’t been finalized.

Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest returns again this year in June, the promoter has announced. The show looks to be more focused and concise. It will kick off with a special Day of the Devs event, which is currently open until April 9th for submissions by indies.
Tokyo Game Show is heading back online again for this year’s show, similar to what it did for 2020. The online event will take place from September 30 to October 4, the organizers announced, with a few tweaks over last year’s show. Notably, there will be *some* in-person aspect, as press will be allowed to meet with publishers in some capacity, and online “matchmaking” will let virtual attendees meet with the publishers and developers present at the show.
