SEGA reveals Lost Judgment, sequel to Yakuza spin-off

The Judge is back to deliver more pain

Okay, so it’s more of a lawyer and not a judge, but then “lawyerment” wouldn’t have been a great title. Judgment, a spin-off of the Yakuza series, became a popular diversion in 2018/2019 while fans waited eagerly for Yakuza 7. The game received a nice next gen bump recently, too, for fans who have been able to grab one of the new consoles (good luck). Now, SEGA has announced a sequel, titled Lost Judgment.

Yes, the Yakuza series is now basically a cinematic universe.

SEGA’s Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio held a “Judgment Day” livestream today to reveal the new game. It picks up with Takayuki Yagami, the original’s lead character, taking on a bizarre murder, and add Yokohama as a new location to explore. Unlike Yakuza 7, the game will not be turn-based. Instead, it’ll remain an action-based experience. Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have revealed that will be the case going forward for future Judgment titles, while the Yakuza series will fully transition to being turn-based from here on out.

The game will also include some new comedic elements and mini-games, like skateboarding and a rhythm-based dance portion.

Lost Judgment is due on September 24 for PS4, PS5, and Xbox, and will be a global launch.
