Nintendo reveals a buildable LEGO Super Mario 64 question block that I need to buy now

Companies reveal a functioning Super Mario 64 playset

“Whelp. There goes my wallet,” I say for the 376775375735th time over the last year, as Nintendo and LEGO have revealed yet another big must-have purchase for their Mario anniversary collaborative lineup. The giant block, a successor to the LEGO NES from last year, isn’t just a big box; it pops open to reveal levels from Super Mario 64.

The areas include Peach’s Castle, the first world, the infamous penguin race, and the underground, all well-known and beloved (maybe?) areas of the iconic game.

Though there are already functioning Mario characters, this set comes with its own tiny, simplified versions of the heroes.

The LEGO Super Mario 64 Question Block goes up for sale on October 1st for $169.99. More info at LEGO’s website.
