Insert Dino Crisis joke here: Capcom reveals new game Exoprimal

It has dinosaurs and guns and a crisis

We know, we know — the joke has run its course at this point. During Sony’s latest PlayStation Stae of Play, Capcom has announced a game about dinosaurs running amok and humans have to take them down. “It’s a crisis!” The 5-player co-op game seems to only take a passing glance at the aforementioned Dino game from the late 90s, though. In Exoprimal, squads equipped with special exosuits will take on hordes of the beasts to discover where they’re coming from and why they want to eat everyone.

Apart from being hungry and being dinosaurs, that is.

The different suits are essentially classes, providing unique powers and team combinations fit to take down the different situations players will come across. Stealth, heavy, healer — the standard styles of classes are here, but much more futuristic. The game takes place in 2043, which is surprisingly only 21 years from now, so apparently our technological boundaries experiences some considerable leaps in the next couple of decades.

In a blog post on the PlayStation website, Capcom’s Kellen Haney gives a little more info on the game, including that players will be able to switch their exosuits mid-play to help get them out of any perilous, raptor-filled situation.

Exoprimal is scheduled to land on PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam in 2023.
