DOOM: The Dark Ages drops a wild new trailer

Sir John Doom Guy is ready to rip and tear in the latest trailer

Bethesda and id Software have just dropped their glorious big new trailer for DOOM: The Dark Ages, and hooooo baby does it get wild.

The game is a prequel to DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal, and tells the tale of the Doom Slayer “on a leash” as he’s sent out to take on the hordes of Hell. This includes riding a bitching dragon and piloting a giant mech. The medieval-ish armor and weapons are dope new addition to the DOOM mythos, and one that will surely create waves of new cosplay at cons for the next decade or two.

The game will focus on the story linking DOOM 64 to DOOM 2016, from when the Marine decided to stay in Hell to when he emerged on Mars. Bethesda claims it’ll be primarily single player, with no multi announced for it at this point.

I for one love the design and aesthetics of the upcoming game, with a more “layered” approach to things like armor and environment. It’s still gritty as hell, but the visual bump for the current gen makes things that much more delicious. Or devilish. Or both!

DOOM: The Dark Ages launches May 15 for Xbox Series, PS5 and PC. It’ll also land on GamePass at launch.
