From ZERO to 8 heroes
During today’s Nintendo Direct, Square Enix announced a sequel (prequel?) to its groundbreaking HD-2D series Octopath Traveler. Octopath Traveler 0 is based on the mobile game, Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent, taking place on the same continent of Orsterra and following the same plot, albeit with plenty of enhancements.

The series’ classic turn-based battles return, but now with the addition of controlling sets of either the front or rear four party members, leading to new ways of commanding teams.
New to the series is the ability to create our own character, with appearance, voice, jobs and skills available to customize. This game will also have players fixing and expanding their town, which has been destroyed by some mysterious calamity, allowing it to grow and change as they play.
Neat!

Octopath Traveler 0 arrives for Switch, Switch 2, PS4 & 5, Xbox Series and PC on December 4, 2025. As an added bonus, players who have save data from other games in the Octopath Traveler, Bravely Default and Dragon Quest HD-2D series (and their demos!) will get in-game bonuses for the game.
