The Legend of Zelda movie announces its lead actors

Bo Bragason and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth take the lead roles in the upcoming film

On social media and through its Nintendo Today app, Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto revealed the news that the company has found its new Zelda and Link — at least for the upcmoing movie.

Bo Bragason (21), best known for her roles in BBC’s The Jetty (2024) and Disney+’s Renegade Nell (2024), will become Zelda, the princess of Hyrule. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth (16), of Haunting of Bly Manor fame, will become the heroic Link.

“This is Miyamoto. I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen.”

The movie, which was pushed from March 2027 to May 7, 2027, will be produced by Nintendo and Sony, directed by Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes‘s Wes Ball. Miyamoto and Avi Arad are producing.

With the actors both being so young it leads to MY OWN PERSONAL PREDICTION that this is the first in a planned trilogy of movies (themed around the Triforce) and that the characters will need to be as young as possible, especially if there ends up being some timey-wimey Ocarina of Time stuff in which we end up with an older Link cast later.
