Resident Evil makes Requiem on the Switch 2

The Resident Evil games are coming to Switch 2 in full release — somehow!

Well well well, this is a bit of a surprise. Though Resident Evil on Nintendo platforms has been a regular thing, it’s been rare lately that a new game would show up at the same time as release as other platforms. Resident Evil 2, 3, VII, VIII are already on the Switch as “Cloud” versions (read: streamed to your device) but often arrived years after originally dropping on Playstation and Xbox.

At Nintendo’s latest Direct, though, Capcom revealed that its upcoming Resident Evil 9: Requiem was coming to the Switch 2 day-and-date with other platforms. While the performance on the Switch 2 likely won’t be on par with that on the more powerful consoles, it still feels like a marvel that the game is coming to the portable/hybrid at all.

And there won’t be a delay in release, either. Resident Evil 9: Requiem arrives on the Switrch 2 alongside the other versions on February 27, 2026. As an added bonus, two of those cloud-based RE games are being ported to full console releases, with Resident Evil VII and VIII hitting Switch 2 on the same day as Requiem.

It’s a Resident Evil party!

Capcom has even dropped “Switch 2” screenshots of the game, so get those comparisons ready.
