Viva Piñata is a strange game concept. It was a little bit Animal Crossing, a little Mario Party, and a whole lot of silliness. Xbox really wanted to push the IP, releasing some fun games across genres. They even comissioned an animated series based on the characters.
The show, titled simply Viva Piñata, follows a group of piñata friends as they live on an island, gather candy, and do… stuff. If they’re lucky they get loaded into a cannon and shot off into a party, where they’re busted open for candy and then sent back to the island for repair (and more candy).
Whew!
The show ran from 2006-2009 and was produced by 4Kids Entertainment.
