With classic arcade action and chonky sprites, He-Man gets a SideQuesting Team Choice Award
The name is a mouthful, but the game feels like just enough of a good thing. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction is a classically-inspired arcade beat’em up where we take control of the titual hero, Teela and Man-at-Arms as they trek through familiar locations across Eternia to take down Skeletor.
He-Man and The Masters Of The Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction sets out to do one thing: Be the MOTU arcade game we never got, and from what I got to see at PAX they figured it out. Big huge chunky sprites, simple but heavy hitting gameplay, and all the trappings of the cartoon and toy line you would come to expect.
This new brawler developed by Bitmap Bureau and published by Limited Run Games is out for my own heart. It really harkens back to older Capcom brawlers which is one of the more overlooked companies that made them in the 80s and early 90s.
I am absolutely keeping my eyes on this one.
Team SideQuesting gives Bitmap Bureau’s upcoming arcade beat’em up He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction a PAX WEST 2025 TEAM CHOICE AWARD for excellence!
