The OG of console RPGs is almost back and glossy

Woohoo, we’re just a couple of weeks away from the return of a true CLASSIC. Or, CLASSICS, rather. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake is arriving soon and Square Enix is celebrating by dropping trailers and videos over the last few weeks of some of the new content that players may be excited for.

The first part of Dragon Quest I is essentially a prolonged tutorial, having players rescue the King’s daughter, Princess Gwaelin. In the remake video “Rescuing Princess Gwaelin” Square Enix’s Masaaki Hayasaka, Producer on the game, talks about some of the changes to the quest, while showing off the completely revamped sction.

The company also gave a look at some of the new content on the way to the game(s), including the mini medals, tombola, underwater section, and even the new character, the Princess of Cannock.

During TGS the development staff gave a meaty gameplay session of the new undersea area, which looks absolutely gorgeous.

And hey, finally, if you’re interested in a general look at the gameplay evolutions in the game, this chonky video showcases just that.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake arrives on October 30th to all platforms.
