Battle Suit Aces review: It’s all in the card (battles)

The new release from Trinket Studios takes various gaming elements and influences and adds a card-battling system that can often be engaging

It’s extremely bold to to put out a deck building game in 2025 as an up and coming studio’s sophomore release, but the good news is they didn’t really do that. This is not the rogue-lite deck builder I’ve seen it described as at multiple places. Battle Chef Brigade was a hot title blending puzzle game and brawling mechanics into a GOTY contender the year it was released.

Battle Suit Aces by Trinket Studios can be described as a 5v5 card battling RPG, I suppose. It is a square peg that simply cannot just fit into the square hole. Using a simple but engaging combat system to have mech fights set on the backdrop of a 90s sci fi anime epic with a sprinkling of crew management and a cast of well defined and interesting characters that we’ll genuinely care about alongside a killer soundtrack, it’s hard not to recommended Battle Suit Aces.
