Enhance have managed to churn out something fresh and new from a 20 year old franchise, and it’s one of the most wonderful experiences of the year
Puzzle games are one of the genres in gaming that doesn’t have down periods. They are out there constantly refining and releasing the best new version of a 40 year old franchise all while discovering new and exciting concepts. Lumines, in the grand scheme of things, is a baby still in the puzzle game genre and yet it’s an all time banger.
One part rhythm, one part Puyo-like, it’s a chocolate and peanut butter of games, and the IP holders have now handed the keys to Tetris Effect‘s Enhance Games to unlock in Lumines what it has always meant to be. Lumines Arise is that realization, and it’s that good.
