We finally get to see what makes the bigger Metroid version better
Nintendo finally gave us more information about Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. While it’s not the Direct we were hoping it would be, the over 7-minute video gives us a better look at what will make the Switch 2 version the one to lean towards.
In the video, Samus arrives on the planet Viewros and (as is typical) loses her powers. We’ll explore frozen research labs, volcanoes, deserts and forests, all while we battle new and returning beasts.
It’s nice to have the scan visor back, and it looks especially cool to have the new psychic powers, which come via a brand new suit. We can direct the control beam’s trajectory when we shoot or use the “psychic glove” to grab and move things from far away.
Getting around the planet will rely on using our new Vi-O-La bike, and start from Sol Valley as a hub. Interestingly enough, we’ll be able to summon Vi-O-La to ride in many areas inside and not just in the giant desert.
The game will also have us rescuing and battling alongside Federation Troopers that have been transported to the planet. There’s a big story built into this latest Metroid game, and the planet and Samus are key to survival.

The Switch 2 version looks terrific, with 4k and 60fps, and even a mode that has HD and 120fps. Both will have HDR. Also of note, the Joy Con 2 will allow for full mouse modes, just by flipping them sideways, for a variety of ways to lock on, shoot and move. It’s a Metroid Miracle!
The game arrives December 4th, 2025 on Switch and Switch 2. We’ll be on Viewros waiting.
