Double Fine’s Kiln looks like a charming as hell goofy pottery brawling game

There are a lot of words to describe Kiln but the best may be: SURE!

Party brawlers aren’t a new genre by any means, but that’s not stopping Double Fine from announcing one! Revealed during Microsoft’s latest Developer_Direct their next game, Kiln, takes party brawling and adds in a very nifty creative aspect. Now, I’ve taken pottery classes before, and my legs and thighs still hurt from doing the mini-game in Ring Fit Adventure, but creating pots JUST to destroy them sounds like an actual blast.

The game will task players to control spirits that inhabit pottery — pottery which is created in a studio based on our own ideas. Want a tall and skinny one? Sure. Short and chubby and spiky? Why not. Something with holes in it? Get freaky. The rub is that these creations lead to unique attributes, so a tall ceramic creation may be easier to bust up than something more stout, but that stout one may move a lot slower.

The concept is neat, and being an online- and multiplayer-focused game with that creative core could lead to a lot of great originality.

Kiln launches for Xbox, PlayStation and PC in Spring.
