Game Freak’s Beast of Reincarnation incarnates this Summer

Gotta survive’em all in the future

During Xbox’s January 2026 Developer Direct, Game Freak (one of the developers behind Pokemon) showed a considerble gameplay overview of their upcoming game Beast of Reincarnation.

Dubbed a “one-person, one-dog” action rpg, the game will have players take on the role of Emma in the year 4086, after a horrific blight has left the world in shambles. Emma is infected by the blight and is able to “seal” it, especially within creatures known as malefacts, ultimately destroying them — until she meets Koo. Koo is a doggo that’s also a malefact, and the two somehow incompatible beings become friends and take on the evil together.

Emma and Koo will travel through giant forest landscapes, as the blight is a sort of plant-based creation emenating from a central evil, the Beast of Reincarnation. Hey, that’s the name of the game! Emma will fight with her sword in a more traditional action gameplay while Koo will support her with skills in a turn-based method. It seems like a neat hybrid system, allowing for fans of both genres to mix skillsets and playstyles together.

Beast of Reincarnation will land on Xbox, PlayStation 5 and PC in the Summer.
