LANESPLIT review: Just warming up our engines

LANESPLIT delivers the start of something, but doesn’t quite finish the ride

LANESPLIT is almost something. It’s got a great vibe all around; good music, cool visuals, and a great sense of speed while you weave in and out of traffic making the number go up, but it just falls short in being a game I want to go back to.

What I described is essentially the entire game, with very little to really offer other than said vibes. It’s annoying to have the aesthetics nailed, but then the fail condition is boring. We crash at high speed, but there’s no drama. The screen just turns black, returning us to our bike to keep going.

There’s not much meat in LANESPLIT to gnaw on and it’s a bummer because the developers have a very strong foundation otherwise.
