BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4: DEMONS FROM THE PORTAL TO HELL I OPENED ARE STILL IN THE FAVELA AND NOW I HAVE TO SAVE MAMADAS FROM RONALDO [Preview]

Whew! That’s a long-ass name!

I’ve always found the genre boomer-shooters to be a weird double entendre referring to both explosively fast gameplay and its association with an older style of shooter.

BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4: DEMONS FROM THE PORTAL TO HELL I OPENED ARE STILL IN THE FAVELA AND NOW I HAVE TO SAVE MAMADAS FROM RONALDO certainly is fast, but calling it old-school might make you look like a boomer.

Of course being the direct sequel to BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT this game expands your movement set with a double jump and dash thanks to fireworks shoved up your ass, which can be removed to be fired at enemies when needed. On its face it seems like a meme heavy inside joke fest you’re not invited to, but it’s mostly a love letter to Brazil and its unique gaming scene. Developer Joeveno explained to us a few references from the demo, some lifted from GTA: Rio de Janeiro an incredibly popular GTA: San Andreas mod in Brazil, but not one that was widely known outside of the country before the early 2020s. We were even lucky enough to have spotted a distorted PS2 controller and case for the mod in one of the demos houses.

The aesthetic isn’t for everyone, and Joeveno isn’t under the impression that all players are going to appreciate being screamed at audibly and visually in Portuguese with absolutely no translations available. It’s about being what it wants to be and extending an arm out to anyone who’s down to party.

BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER BEFORE 4: DEMONS FROM THE PORTAL TO HELL I OPENED ARE STILL IN THE FAVELA AND NOW I HAVE TO SAVE MAMADAS FROM RONALDO is due out September 16th, 2026 on Steam. BRAZILIAN DRUG DEALER 3: I OPENED A PORTAL TO HELL IN THE FAVELA TRYING TO REVIVE MIT AIA I NEED TO CLOSE IT is available on Steam now and was one of Zach’s 2025 Game of the year selections.
