What if the series stayed in pixel form?
The latest trailer for Square Enix’s upcoming Final Fantasy Resonance asks that very question. And if it looks like what is show in the video then I’m fairly certain we’d all be happy.
The latest trailer reveals more of the world, its battles, its Esper summons and its traversal methods.
Led by a hero named Rain (because Cloud, Squall, Tidus and other watery weather patterns were already taken) the game will have players moving HD-2D pixelated characters through nice, polygonal worlds in a stunning mash-up. Players will have the ability to team up with characters from other FF games (the “resonance” part) as sort of bonded powers. There will also be minigames, a colosseum, and more.
It emits Final Fantasy VI vibes, and I’m so, so looking forward to that. Final Fantasy Resonance arrives on October 22 across all platforms.
