Teaser trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 debuts online [Update: “other project” teased]

The latest teaser for CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk 2077 shows us not only the intended mood that the  game looks to convey, but also a little bit more about the world that the game takes place in.

The video focuses on the elite Psycho Squad aiding the Night City police in taking down a “psycho”. In C2077 “psychos” are the names given to individuals who essentially overdose on cybernetic enhancements, causing them to rebel against their bodies and forcing the hosts to go into a killing spree.

The full CG video above depicts one of the psychos, a woman amidst a pile of fresh bodies that we believe she was the creator of, being shot at by the Psycho Squad.

It just goes to show you that not everyone can have a nice, quiet Thursday in the future.

Update: NeoGAF user Peace Walker found a hidden message in the trailer revealing another game announcement coming soon from CD Projekt Red.

The message confirms the company plans to reveal a “fully open-world game with an intense story.” It also mentions the project is “much closer to being completed,” than Cyberpunk 2077, which has led many to speculate it to be the rumored sequel to The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.

The state of the unannounced game would align with a rumor from last October, originating from a translation of an interview with CD Projekt Red’s president Adam Kicińsk on a Polish game blog. Reportedly, a “dark fantasy game”, believed to be a Witcher game, was said to be in further along in development than Cyberpunk 2077.
