Forza 5 at E3

We saw Forza 5 last month during the Xbox One reveal, and now we get some actual in-game footage, as well as what makes the game different than previous games in the series.: Drivatars. Yeah, that’s a word.

Firstly, the team aimed to deliver  “the real world”.  The new generation is about “capturing the details that make our world human real,” the developers explained. This focuses now less on polygon counts and more on the play of light, showing hand-stitched leather, and worn rotors. For racing and car fans, this is a pretty big deal, as ultimate detail realism has been one thing that is lacking in the genre.

The second big push is the game’s new tie to the Cloud. Instead of AI-based multiplayer, the opponents are now “Drivatars”, amalgamations of human input, learning the actual driving methods of players. This level of asynchronous play will allow gamers to race against friends. This will lead to real reactions and real mistakes, for a more… uhh… real multiplayer.

Forza 5 arrives alongside the Xbox One release.
