Razer to release a budget friendly keyboard

For every gamer, having that that trustworthy keyboard is important. It needs to be one that you can trust when looking to have an advantage to take out your opponent. Razer is once again announcing a new slate of keyboards hoping to capture that need. And, like any Razer product that is currently out, the company isn’t just releasing one version of a new product but multiples. Four new Keyboards have been or will be released for your buying pleasure. Let’s take a look.

The budget friendly version is the Razer BlackWidow X Tournament Edition starting price at $59.99, with the MX Blue Switch. I love how compact the keyboard looks to be for travel.

  • 80 million keystroke life span
  • Compact layout
  • Military grade metal top construction
  • Razer Synapse enabled
  • 10 key roll-over anti-ghosting
  • Fully programmable keys with on-the-fly macro recordingGaming mode option

Up next is the Razer BlackWidow X Ultimate starting at $89.99 with the Cherry Blue Switch.

The keyboard’s specs are similar to the Tournament Edition but it isn’t compact, as you can see. The only thing that it lacks from the Tournament Edition is the USB pass-through. It also has these additional features: individually backlit keys with dynamic effects, and something called “Gaming mode” options.

The Razer BlackWidow Tournament Edition X Chroma is next on the line at the starting price of $129.99. Again the specs are similar to the Tournament (along with its compact design) but with a couple of more features: Chroma customizable blacklighting (16.8 million color options) and individually blacklit keys.

And last is the big boy: the Razer BlackWidow X Chroma at the starting price of $159.99.

The basic specifications are exactly the same as the Razer BlackWidow Tournament Edition X Chroma minus the compact layout and the protective top cover. The keys are free to breathe.

According to Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder and CEO, the company is “pleased that we’re able to establish a new low price point for a premium, metal-chassis, mechanical keyboard with the new BlackWidow X.”

As much as I love colored light keyboards like the one I am currently using, I am also a fan of mechanical keyboards as well. Unfortunately my current device is not mechanical and so it gets annoying when the keys doesn’t work. With these new price points, I may finally be able to afford my next advantage.

Most are available for purchase already, except for the Razer BlackWidow Tournament Edition X Chroma, which is scheduled to be released in April.
