ReCore’s launch trailer looks great, but I still have no idea what’s going on

ReCore, the latest game from Mighty No 9 developer Keiji Inafune and Comcept and help from former Metroid Prime devs, launches next week. After a lot of silence on the game and minimal buildup of marketing, the only real latest look we have comes from the debut trailer. And hey, it looks cool! Though, I don’t really know what’s happening.

Perhaps that’s not fair to say. ReCore involves puzzle solving, robots (Corebots) and a main character that believes she’s basically the last person on earth. The game is set in a dystopian future — as all games are these days — so exploration and scavenging will be important.

And that’s all we know. There have been hands on with the game over the last few expos, but nothing substantial has come from it to really cause us to salivate. Perhaps it’s on purpose, and the slow trickle of information forces us to focus on the trailers and concept art. Or perhaps there really isn’t a whole lot to the game besides puzzle solving and scavenging.

We’ll find out in a week when the game launches on Xbox One and Windows 10 as a part of Microsoft’s Xbox Anywhere initiative. Until then, the trailer looks nice, right?
