Marvel and Square Enix kick off multi-game project with The Avengers

Yesterday, both Marvel and Square Enix teased big news dropping today, and it now officially has!

The Avengers Project (name not final) is the first in a new team up between the two companies. Marvel’s parent company, Disney, works with SE on the Kingdom Hearts series, so expanding that role to include Marvel seems natural. What’s possibly more exciting is that Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, known as the teams behind Tomb Raider, will be working on the project.

The teaser video above gives us a glimpse of defeated heroes (Cap’s busted shield, Bruce Banner’s cracked glasses) with a voiceover by a female narrator. Could this be Captain Marvel telling us that the modern team of comic book Avengers needs to save the world, picking up the pieces from the classic team?

The hashtag associated with the project is #Reassemble, which is a little telling (based on Marvel’s history). And with Avengers: Infinity War coming to theaters next year, we’re timed for a blitz of information.
