E3: Ubisoft reveals pirate-themed Skull & Bones

Justin Farren, Creative Director for Ubisoft Singapore took the stage at E3 to announce Skull & Bones, its new naval combat game.

The tactical action multiplayer online game exists in a shared world, meaning that players can enjoy the game by themselves or with friends in “gangs.” Spread across “seasons,” players will battle and hunt for loot to become the most notorious pirate in the rankings.

Learning to control your ship will be key, as different vessels have both unique weights and weapons and react differently in water. The wind can therefore be an ally to those who know how to maneuver, or an enemy to those who don’t. The ships will likewise have a variety of weapons, short and long-ranged cannons and mortars.

In one mode, Loot Hunt, teams of 5-on-5 rival gangs battle to capture as much loot as possible, where sacrificing oneself is important to win as a team.

Skull and Bones will be available on Fall 2018 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X and PC.
