Super Smash Bros coming to Switch in 2018

The next Super Smash Bros game has been announced.

During today’s Nintendo Direct, the company revealed that the next entry in the series will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch this year, 2018. It’s unconfirmed if this is a DX version of what appeared on Wii U & 3DS, or if it’s a wholly new game, but there are a few details we can muster up.

The trailer reveals that Splatoon’s Inklings will be new combatants, and will join the only two other revealed characters: Mario and Link (in Breath of the Wild gear). Zooming in on the crowd in front of the logo may hint at a few. We can sort of make out Donkey Kong and Bowser, who stand taller than everyone else.

The timing seems to be in line with the company’s announcement that its online network infrastructure will be arriving in September, so this could be the big kick-off experience.
