Hot Take: Gorillaz jam out with ScHoolboy Q on “PAC-MAN”

Everywhere I go, I don’t know where I am

We’re really into music over here at SQHQ, and we love to share some of our finds with our friends. Granted, you may be hearing some of these as we are, but that won’t stop us from enjoying them TOGETHER.

Right now we’re jamming along to the latest from Gorillaz in their Song Machine project, “PAC-MAN” (ft. ScHoolboy Q). PAC-MAN has that familiar smoothness of Gorillaz music, where the beat is incredibly infectious on its own as a pop techno melody. It never jumps to a climactic pitch, instead keeping the line very consistent, pulling us along while it tells its lyrical story.

And that lyrical story is what is really juicy. Built to help commemorate the 40th anniversary of Pac-Man, the song and video talk to getting lost in something, whether it’s love or reality or playing a video game, and the need to get “disconnected” to find one’s own truth.

The song slaps. The video is pretty amazing. The whole thing is impressive.
