Drive your car when you can’t drive your car

In a bit of a neat twist, Audi’s new e-tron concept vehicle incorporates some gamification into its design. The car, revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show, will let owners play a racing game while it waits to get charged.

The car utilizes its headlamps to project the visuals on a wall, after which “players” (or “drivers”) can use the vehicle’s actual steering wheel and pedals to control the game. The design of the game is rudimentary, as it will depend not only on the fidelity of the headlamps and a wall to project onto, but the concept is intriguing nonetheless. Tesla already uses its giant center screen to let owners play games, so perhaps this Audi concept is one step further. We can imagine putting this to even better use, like a car version of Folding At Home, or even mining Ethereum to min NFTs — or, maybe not that last one.

The e-tron is currently a concept, so who knows if this will ever actually make its way to showrooms.
