Dammit. F-Zero X is the next game to land on the Switch’s online service, and now I might turn.

And we’re still waiting for a true follow-up, by the way

I wasn’t convinced by the first batch of N64 & Genesis games to land on the Switch’s pricy Expansion Pack tier for their online network. A few releases later and my once-diverted eyes slowly shifted, with the Mario Kart 8 DLC really making me question my holdout. Now I may finally succumb to the spell, as the platform holder has just announced that the next game to trickle onto the service will be F-Zero X, the excellent futuristic racing game.

F-Zero X is a terrific sequel to the SNES original, including 30 cars, Grand Prix, Time Trial, and Death Race modes. And, though the original had 4-player races, now those can take place online.

The 24 year old game will be added to the service soon – this Friday, March 11th, in fact — but we’re still waiting for anything new to come down the hyper track. It’s been too long, Miyamoto! Get coding!
