Charming storytelling wrapped in a GameBoy inspired flavor

How do you manage to take the RPG Maker engine and create a storytelling adventure with a nostalgic GameBoy color palette? Developer Poppy Works did it with Melon Journey: Bittersweet Memories, and Zach explains how the entire experience is a charming, worthwhile playthrough.
