Now there’s a Warhammer racing game in development

Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is the logical next step in putting Warhammer in everything.

Or is it, “putting everything into Warhammer?”

Who knows. They really, REALLY like that IP. Games Workshop wants to make sure that no inch of the Earth is free of being scorched by Warhammer, and so the next game in development is a racer. Yes! A racing game. Well, a combat racer, that is. That actually seems like it would work better than a take on Gran Turismo, tbh.

Anyhoo, Warhammer 40k: Speed Freeks, developed by Caged Element and published by Plaion is a violent combat racer that asks players to destroy their opponents as much as sprint past them on a track. The Orks and vehicles are in a class-based system, so that battles are a little more dependent on how you play rather than just shooting and racing. Each battle can support up to 16 racers, and includes courses that are possibly as violent as the action.

The game is in Alpha, and it’s noted that it’s still very early and rough around the edges, but it’s going to aim for a Free to Play model that will let players jump in rather quickly. It’s currently planned for a release on Steam “soon”.
