Nintendo does an epic callback to Paul Rudd’s infamous Super NES commercial with a Paul Rudd Switch 2 commercial

Paul Rudd and Paul Rudd — 2GETHER AGAIN

One of Nintendo’s most well known commercials involves a 90s Paul Rudd rocking a blazer and bad haircut as he plays the Super NES WITH POWER. It still goes down in history as one of the MOST NINETIES THINGS EVER in gaming. Now, the company is making a wild throwback to that commercial with a new one — with Paul Rudd reprising his look and, uh, power?

In the ad, Rudd holds up a Switch 2, slams it (safely) into a dock, and then proceeds to get razzed by his opponents online via Gamechat. The tagline has moved from “Now You’re Playing With Power” to the new “Now You’re Playing Together”.

Never change, weird Nintendo. Never change.

The company has also taken the tactic of re-uploading that old commercial as well, just to remind people of how wild and loose those days were.
