We don’t know who wanted GEX back, but Limited Run made sure that whoever did was getting a nice bundle with some quality of life updates.
I had the opportunity to try Limited Run Games’ GEX Trilogy collection at PAX East 2025, and while I don’t really care for GEX 1 — it’s a plain 2D platformer — it was the sequels that I was most interested in seeing. I was most sentimental for GEX 2, because it was the one I spent the most time on as a kid, and with this update I enjoyed a lot of the quality of life changes. The analog sticks work great, the controls are really smooth, and the camera movement can now be done with the analog sticks (as well as the original games’ trigger controls).
The GEX humor may be dated, but the nostalgia for this little lizard is strong enough to bring me back. I can’t imagine GEX is for everybody, but t’s definitely for this guy.

GEX Trilogy is coming later this year.
SideQuesting had a chance to play the game at PAX East. This video first appeared on The SideQuest LIVE for May 9, 2025.
