A Vampire Survivors-like (garlic-like?) that has great progression and nice visuals
Asgard’s Fall is a “Vamps” game, a Vampire Survivors-like with a focus on Norse mythology. It has a very cool leveling and archetype system, which seem to be at its core, with three standards: a physical melee character with a sword, a bow and arrow hero, and an elemental magician. The hook is that the arenas we’re placed in deliver different types of upgrades, mixing up ourt character’s abilities with that area.
We might get a spear that lands in an area and does impact damage and then also radiates electricity, or then we might get one that throws ice spheres around us in a circle and can freeze enemies on impact. On top of that there’s the ability to put “knots” into a grid that do specific character upgrades. We can increase our attack speed or make a crit chance higher, and might also get a knot that then can multiply those advantages. But then we also might get knots that, once we get enough specific buffs, give us an extra boost. For example, every time we dash, we can leave a fire trail behind us, or if we have two different lightning attacks anytime those two attacks go off near each other, chain lightning will appear between them.
It’s a really creative system that lets us dedicate our build instead of leaving it to random upgrades.
I think it’s going to be a really strong time killer. The runs are a little bit shorter, about 20 minutes compared to Vampire Survivors 30 minutes if you’re doing it correctly, and even though there are only 3 maps available right now there’s plenty to do already.
