The full title of this game is a lot to say, but in his review Zach tells us that the enjoyment and goofiness back up that name.
This game lives in a weird spot in my mind because itswill, the streamer that I regularly watch, streamed this a while back and when I saw it I immediately thought, yeah, this was up my alley. Weird, goofy, niche, and about card collecting? Yes. Me.
The basic game loop is that we stand in front of trash, pick it up and throw it away, getting money for doing so. Then we can use that money to upgrade how much trash we can carry or how much energy we have. We can buy a dog and the dog will sniff out rare things for us to pick up. And it’s all so that we can get back those cards that we’re missing. It’s a weird premise! But in a charming way!
The game is just an endless, incremental sort of experience where we’re constantly getting trash, throwing stuff away, trading things in, leveling up. It’s such a strangely relatable experience because we can buy beer to get our energy up and just chill, enjoying the work we’ve done.
There’s music in it that, and I don’t know if it’s AI or not but it’s definitely the same person singing in all these songs, that are all drastically different styles of music but they’re all specifically about being mad at our wife for throwing away our cards.
It’s all just so silly, but it works together well as that very specific and yet completely open experience. Incremental games scratch that itch for most of us, so it’s an easy game to recommend for that alone.
