It’s been a long legacy, I guess
What’s old is new again, as now even Legacy of Kain is making its triumphant (maybe!) return to the gaming world. Crystal Dynamics has revealed a few new projects in the series, including a brand new game. Legacy of Kain: Ascendance is a 2D retro action game developed by Bit Bot Media that aims to “explore the history of Nosgoth.” Using combos and fast, fluid action the game is a departure from the series’ previous stylings but looks stylish in its own right.
Legacy of Kain: Ascendance lands on PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series, Switch & Switch 2, Steam and Epic on March 31st.
For those that prefer that nostalgia of the original LoK games, Crystal Dynamics is remastering Legacy of Kain: Defiance for modern platforms. In Defiance players control both Raziel and Kain, closing out their intertwined story.
The Defiance remaster will obviously improve the visuals, allowing players to switch on the fly between classic and modern, but will also include a new camera because back in 2003 Defiance‘s camera was, uh, not great.
Anyhoo, the game releases on March 3rd for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, PC, Switch and Switch 2.
