We’ve been waiting for SO LONG, Snake
For decades Metal Gear Solid IV has been trapped on the PlayStation 3. While other games in the series have been relaunched, remade, remastered, that glorious 4th-ish game was gone. Blame it on the PlayStation 3’s hardware, blame it on development time, blame it on leadership, blame it on whatever, we thought the game was lost to time. But it’s not! WOOHOO IT’S NOT!
Announced during today’s State of Play, the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2 is in the works, and will bring MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots to consoles yet again — many consoles! The collection, which also includes the HD version of Peace Walker and the Game Boy’s Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel, will be making its way to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Switch, Switch 2 and Steam.
The collection will bring some nice new features to the games, too.
- MGS4 will get improved resolution, frame rates, and customizable button layouts
- Peace Walker gets custom controls and both co-op (2-4) and versus (2-6) online modes
- Ghost Babel will get screen filters, pixel perfect, screen settings, rewind and custom controls
Save data from the previous collection will reward owners with special skins for the two 3D-based games.
Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol.2 arrives on August 27th.
