LEGO is finally making the Mario sets we want — and LUIGI TOO

We’ll make the Luigi stare ANY WAY POSSIBLE

The LEGO Super Mario sets have been a fun thing over the years, what with their interactivity and point-keeping and giant, interconneted worlds and Donkey Kong. However, they’ve served their purpose. They’re no longer as hot as they were a few years back. We no longer have the room to connect everything into a giant world.

Besides, we’ve fully fallen into the 18+ sets now, of which Nintendo has helped produce many.

Thankfully, on this MAR10 DAY 2026, both Nintendo and LEGO have listend and announced new sets that are right in our wheelhouse. Our, uh, open wheel… house.

Firstly, we’re finally getting a Luigi Mario Kart LEGO set to match up with his brother Mario. While it was teased a few weeks ago, the set is now official. The Luigi Mach 8 takes the green guy and puts him in his trusted kart, ready to rock on the course. The set comes in 2,234 pieces and features poseable arms, head and hands. While we can mostly recreate THE STARE we may need the help of a sharpie marker to really match it up.

It’s available to preorder now and lands at retail on April 1 for 159.99 / €179.99 / $179.99, right when the new movie hits theaters.

Nintendo and LEGO weren’t done with the news, though. Revealed today is the NEW LEGO direction: MINIFIGS. Proper, wonderful, Mario minifigs! That means full new scenes that can be built up (think the Animal Crossing and Zelda sets) in true proportion.
