We’re in for a lot of shadows of collossal robots
Announced back in 2024, Fumito Ueda’s newest project had gone into hiding for a couple of years. It’s difficult to do so, considering it involves gigantic mechs that tower over humanity. Hard to hide those things, friends!
Said mechanical creations have come out of hiding as gen ATLAS, the once-titled Project Robot, has had its official coming out party at Summer Game Fest. The game is a third person action adventure in which a character awakens on a mysterious, desolate planet without any memory of who they are or how they got there. Eventually they come across giant robots, which may or may not be keys to whatever the heck is going on.
We’re Ueda stans here at SideQuesting, and typically enjoy the mix of storytelling, puzzle-solving, action and fantasy that the Developer brings to his games, and now going to a much more dystopian sci-fi aesthetic and theme may lead to some incredible creative opportunities.
gen ATLAS has no release date, but it’s coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and Epic Games Store.
