Rumor: Next Call of Duty to Take Place in Vietnam?

One of the best parts of a lazy blogging Sunday afternoon is the amount of random rumors that appear for our fair industry.  The rumor du jour this weekend comes courtesy of That Videogame Blog with hearsay of the next Treyarch-developed Call of Duty game.  Digging into the licensing of potential music for an upcoming game, TVGB’s “reliable” sources note that music of the late-sixties variety is being looked into — music such as Vietnamese, Cuban, Soviet, and African.  And with a possible confirmation of involvement from Noah Heller, Treyarch’s COD guru and World at Wor Senior Producer, a COD game set during the Cold War and Vietnam era might be in the pipes.

Fact:  ActiBlizzard has annualized Call of Duty for the last several years.

Fact: Treyarch’s Noah Heller himself noted that they are ready to “put World War II to rest”.

Fact: Call of Duty makes money.  Lots and lots of money.

There are no confirmations on any possible inclusion of shirtless cowboy generals or maniacal cultists… yet.
