The Weekend Report: PAX Pox Edition

Spring is just around the corner, and I feel great. Fresh air in my lungs, the sun is shining almost every day. Wait, what’s that? A bunch of you guys who went to PAX wound up with a mean case of the PAX pox? Man, that sucks. It really does. But let’s look at it like this: I didn’t get sick, so now I’ve gotta write this post. You got sick and get to lie down and not feel good.

Silver linings, right guys? Hit the jump for some stories so hot you’ll think you have a fever.

Joystiq’s got a first look at Firefall, which looks like the kind of game a certain group of people could get behind. The kind of group who all are brought together through their love of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. The people who come for the game, but stay for the memories. Or stay for the shooting dudes. Either way, Firefall looks neat and there’s nothing better than something free.

League of Legends is my homie. Me and him go all the way back to the beta, so I like to keep in touch and see how he’s doing. That’s why when I caught the latest preview of upcoming changes in the next patch I knew everything was gonna be alright. Hey, League of Legends? You’re gonna be just fine, buddy.

Armless Octopus, in my completely objective, unbiased opinion is one of the rising stars on the writing side of the industry. While they mostly cover Xbox Live Indie games they also dabble in Xbox Live Arcade titles. They’ve got a neat hands-on with Swarm, and all I can say is, “If killing hundreds upon hundreds of little blue dudes every level is wrong, I don’t wanna be right.”

While not strictly videogame related, Tested has a rant about bogus apps in iTunes. I’m not gonna point fingers, but as far as I’m concerned the line has been drawn. Irritated Fowls FishCraft, you are officially on notice.

We’re keeping it light today, friends. But just a heads-up. All your favorite sites (SideQuesting included!) have tons of impressions of games from PAX East. Linking to them all here would take up far too much space, but you should bounce around and check them out. It really helps that crushing agony from missing out on PAX East.
