E3 2018: Fallout 76 arrives this year

Bethesda’s big push at its E3 showcase this year was Fallout 76, and Todd Howard arrived on stage to give us the details about it.

Fallout 76 is a massive open world, multiplayer action FPS RPG containing dozens of players online at once. The game will require players always be online, but it can be played as a solo adventure as well. F76 will focus on survival, as it recounts the moments when Vault 76 reopened and humanity made its way back to the surface for the first time. Set in West Virginia after the bombs dropped, some mutations have already begun. Giant sloths, giant bats, and giant other things rule the land, but humans are going to try and rebuild regardless.

And rebuild they will! The game not only has action RPG elements but lets players (and teams of players) build bases to survive. There are also nukes players can use to blow up things they don’t like, because video games!

But most surprisingly, the game launches THIS YEAR, on November 14th. Bethesda has so much swagger, they’re willing to go up against the Battlefield/Pokemon/Red Dead monsters and carve out their own path. Brave little team they got there. A beta is also planned for real soon.

Preorders include a Power Armor Edition with a wearable helmet and a map that “fucking glows.”

I love video games.
