Gamescom: Amplitude Studios reveal society-building sim Humankind

Combine the best, or worst, of your favorite civilizations

The sim civilization-building genre is varied, whether the aim is to develop a spacefaring society or a warring Earth one. SEGA and Amplitude take the latter approach with Humankind, asking players to develop and lead humanity through its brightest, and darkest, times.

The historical-based game tasks players with building a civilization that can survive and adapt to its world, from the Neolithic age into the modern one. They’ll be asked to grab and adapt and evolve their people’s cultures and ways of life by pulling aspects from many of Earth’s own most powerful civilizations. Develop into the Vikings but fancy art? Sure, go ahead and grab early Roman features. Want a mix of Egyptian and Eastern? You got it.

Humankind promises an endless mix of 60+ historic societies when it releases for PC in 2020.
