My little Galarian pony
Nintendo’s latest livestream focused on Pokemon Sword & Shield, which was essentially a stream of a serene forest scene, had glimpses of a new Ponyta version. Now, the company has made it official: the Galarian Ponyta is coming to the series.
This version of the popular Ponyta looks like a My Little Pony fan’s dream. It has a pink, yellow & green mane, a terrific purple unicorn horn, and a pearl coat. Nintendo states that the “legend” of the Galarian Ponyta revolves around the Pokémon absorbing the life energy of the Galar region forests, which resulted in the new look. It includes a new ability, too: Pastel Veil will prevent poisoning of teammates, and clear poison when the Pokémon enters the field.
Most importantly, however, is that the Pokémon will be exclusive to the Shield version of the game when it launches. Sword owners will only be able to get the pokemon through trades. Suddenly, I’m rethinking my preorder.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield arrive November 15th exclusively on Switch.
