Ten years on, Riot Games reveal a slew of massive new projects

Developer of League of Legends unveils big projects across several platforms

Riot Games has been behind the wheel of LoL for a decade now, and the biggest game in the world continues to get even bigger. The company is planning for a world in which the game isn’t as popular, though, unveiling several new projects in the works.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is a version of the game for consoles and mobile platforms. It’s still 5v5 games, with twin-stick based controls for more action and accessibility across devices. Matches will last up to 18 minutes, with a new map as well. Though the game is completely rebuilt from the ground up for the new platforms, it still hopes to capture the feel of LoL to the best of its ability. It launches in 2020.

Legends of Runeterra is a free-to-play card game based on the world and heroes of LoL. Cards can be unlocked through play, or bought individually. The game is also coming in 2020.

Teamfight Tactics is heading to mobile devices, with crossplay across all devices. This should be arriving in 2020.

Project A is a new tactical shooter, squarely taking on games like Team Fortress 2 or Overwatch.

Project L is a fighter, which is possibly being developer by Radiant Entertainment (the fighting game studio Riot acquired a few years back that fueled many new game rumors since). It’s set in the LoL universe.

League of Legends Esports Manager is a sports management sim based on LoL.

Project F is a bit more mysterious, with not much information shared except a few short clips and screens that seem to show off an action RPG style world.

Finally, two other types of video were announced: League of Legends Origins is a documentary showing the rise of the game, and Arcane is an animated series set in the LoL universe.
