Turn-based Eighties NYC beat’em up prepares for vengeance

We’ve covered Treachery in Beatdown City in the past and, well, we absolutely loved what we played. The game, which mixes elements of Eighties mainstays Double Dragon, Street Fighter, and even Final Fantasy, is a novel approach to modernizing nostalgia. You feel like you’ve played it before, but you really haven’t. It comes off as something new and complex, yet familiar.

The game stars three fighters as they travel around an overworld, hopping into 2-D streets and engaging in 1-on-1 battles through turn-based fight commands. It may seem a little much to explain, but it absolutely flows just right.

And, it’s coming out next week. Developers Nuchallenger have revealed a March 31 launch date for the game for Switch and Steam, where it will retail for $19.99.
