We want it right here, right meow

There’s an alternate timeline where Annapurna’s video game Stray is the actual version of CATS that we got.

Stray, developed by Bluetwelve, stars a feline that’s forced to explore a futuristic cybercity, reminiscent of the seediest parts of Blade Runner. As a lost cat, players will explore the city and try to find their way back to their family. But, are humans even around? Graffiti around in the city’s backgrounds depict the end of humanity, with robots taking over and mimicking the mundane human lifestyles in their place.

The game is viewed in third person, and players will be tasked with making their way around by interacting, climbing, treading tight spaces and more. And, because cats, they’ll do so in a slightly playful way that contrasts the neon world around them.

Debuted during Sony’s PS5 reveal last week, Stray is due in 2021 for PC and PS5 as a console exclusive. More info can be found on the game’s Steam page.
