Spider-Man: Miles Morales will in fact be a standalone game

Not a part of a remaster, but maybe with remastered parts

Sony didn’t do the best effort in explaining what Spider-Man: Miles Morales actually is. Speculation ran rampant that it was a remaster of the original Marvel’s Spider-Man PS4 with new content, or that it was a full 20-hour experience, or that it was DLC.

In reality, as Sony has finally explained, it’s a standalone game that utilizes some improved assets from the original, but is a wholly new experience. Much like Uncharted: Lost Legacy and Infamous: First Light, Miles Morales will be set in the same universe as the original, taking place a year later, but feature the Ultimate Spider-man in all his glory.

Switching to the PS5 meant that whatever assets were used (and to be honest, probably not very much) were moved to 4K, and include a whole host of ray tracing effects. In fact, with so many improvements this is essentially a completely new game, just not from the ground up. More like from the skyscraper down. because Spider-man.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales launches exclusively for the PS5 this Holiday season.
